Lately, I’ve been reflecting on life post-cancer—what it looks like, how it feels, and more importantly, how I want to live it.
It’s no surprise that one of the things that keeps rising to the top is connection. Real, raw connection with the people around me—yes, including you.
Over the last five plus years, many of you have been part of our journey. You’ve supported our artisans, followed our adventures, and come back time and time again to buy jewellery that tells a story and makes a difference. For that, I’m endlessly grateful. And I truly hope you’ll continue to walk this road with me as I step into this new chapter—not just as a founder and designer, but as a cancer survivor navigating life with renewed perspective.
A couple of weeks ago, I had it all mapped out: a fresh email plan, new things to share, and finally a trip back to our second home in Uganda after three years away. But life had other ideas.
Instead of boarding a plane, I found myself back in that all-too-familiar space: waiting for scan results. And with that came the emotional fog, the drained energy, and the mind-numbing uncertainty that so many of us have felt in one way or another.
The truth is, we all have seasons where we sit in the in-between. The liminal spaces. The not yet known. And while it’s uncomfortable, I’m learning—again—that it’s also where transformation can quietly begin.
But I must include, now on the other side of the waiting—I once again know that I am still ok. My scans were all clear. However, this is a part of my life now. Something I’m having to learn how to navigate on a regular basis due to my high risk.
In that space, I asked myself:
– What actually matters most right now?
– How do I want to spend my time?
– What brings me life and peace, even here?
I pulled out my bravery stud earrings (yes, they’re more than just pretty accessories), and I leaned into the quiet. I learned a few things —lessons I’ll share with you soon.
So why am I telling you this?
Because at Voice, we’re not just about jewellery—though we do make beautiful pieces that empower women and communities in Uganda. Our deeper purpose is to invite you into something more: connection, reflection, and meaning in your everyday life.
We believe in amplifying the voices of our artisans—and yours too. Your story matters. Your presence matters. And the way you show up for yourself and others, even in hard moments, really matters.
So as we head into a new week, maybe wear something that reminds you of your strength. Maybe take five minutes each morning to pause and ask yourself, What brings me peace today? Maybe let your mind settle on things that are life-giving—even if just for a moment.
Wherever you’re at—whether it’s a Monday full of meetings or a Wednesday that feels like a mountain—know you’re not alone.
Thank you for being here.
Thank you for being part of Voice.
